Overview
Thermo Fisher's analytical services team provides a functional service provider solution that allows customers to use our staff experience while the employee gains direct experience onsite at a pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical company, with full-time benefits. The role supports the development of innovative drug delivery approaches, and feedback from analytical work will guide future work. The position is based in Ware, UK.
Responsibilities
* Performs a variety of complex sample preparation and analysis procedures to quantitatively measure pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in formulations and/or biological matrices for stability and analytical testing.
* Sets up and maintains analytical instrumentation.
* Trains on routine operation, maintenance and theory of analytical instrumentation, SOPs and regulatory procedures and guidelines.
* Ensures QA findings are addressed appropriately.
* Performs problem solving regarding extraction and/or instrumentation issues, independently or with assistance.
* Communicates project status to the project leader.
* Performs work assignments accurately, in a timely and safe manner.
* Reviews, interprets, and analyzes data for technical quality and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria and GMP/GLP.
* Performs self and peer review of data for accuracy and compliance prior to submission to QA and issuance to customers.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
* 2+ years of related experience or equivalent combination (per the role context).
* Alternative: Masters degree with related experience (0-2 years) as applicable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* 1+ years of experience with HPLC, KF, and dissolution testing in a regulated GMP lab; experience with Empower software.
* Demonstrated knowledge of multiple techniques such as HPLC, KF and dissolution testing.
* Inhalation testing experience is desirable.
* Knowledge of general chemistry and separation science.
* Ability to perform root cause analysis for method investigations independently.
* Proficiency with technical operating systems and strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
* Strong technical writing, time management and project management skills.
* Good written and oral communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team; ability to train junior staff.
