Job Opportunity: Education Regulatory/Compliance Lawyers in Bristol
A well-regarded private practice law firm in Bristol, specializing in Education law, is seeking to recruit two Education Regulatory/Compliance lawyers: one with 0 to 1 year of PQE and another with 3 or more years of PQE. The firm has a dedicated Regulatory & Compliance team that supports Education clients in navigating their regulatory frameworks and legal challenges. The work is dynamic, driven by legal and political developments.
Working closely with the team lead for independent school practice, the successful candidates will advise on:
1. Admissions and exclusions, including appeals
2. Managing student behaviour and disciplinary issues
3. Safeguarding, special educational needs (SEN), and equality matters
4. Handling complaints and claims, including tribunal work
5. Guiding schools through inspections and regulatory compliance
You will also provide critical incident management and reputation protection services, which are key areas for independent schools. Familiarity with issues such as fee disputes, parental complaints, and safeguarding obligations specific to the independent sector would be advantageous.
For the role requiring 3+ years of PQE, the ideal candidate will be an experienced Education lawyer with expertise in parent and student matters, as well as compliance with regulatory frameworks specific to independent schools. Broad experience across contentious and non-contentious issues, advising independent schools, school groups, and governing bodies, is preferred.
For newly-qualified candidates, the firm will consider those who have completed a seat in Education or Regulatory law, regardless of sector, or candidates with a strong interest in the Education sector.
