Job Summary
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Cardiologist to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - based at the Northern General Hospital. The successful candidate will specialise in heart failure and cardiac imaging including echocardiography.
Main Duties
* Provide cardiology services in heart failure and imaging, including outpatient clinics, MDT ward rounds, and meetings with specialist nurses.
* Perform and supervise echocardiograms and participate in specialist MDTs.
* Opportunity to attend cardiac catheter lab sessions (e.g., right heart catheterisation) and/or specialist cardiac imaging (e.g., CMR or CT) depending on experience.
* Participate in the “on call” commitment for general cardiology, acting as a non‑invasive cardiologist; cover for colleagues during absences and provide emergency cover.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and assist throughout the region; contribute to ward cover rotas.
* Engage in teaching of medical students and junior staff.

Qualifications
Essential
* Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practice.
* Name on the specialist register or eligible within 6 months of the date of interview.
* MRCP or equivalent.

* Awarded MD or PhD or equivalent.
Clinical Experience

* Good general training and experience at StR level or equivalent in Cardiology, as required for UK CCST.
* Ability in, and experience of, providing an expert opinion in elective and emergency cardiology cases.
* Subspecialty training in Echocardiography.
* Subspecialty training in Heart Failure.
* Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
* Experience in specialist areas of cardiology.
* Subspecialty training and experience in advanced heart failure.
* Subspecialty training or experience in advanced Imaging (e.g., CT/CMR).
* Experience in leading multidisciplinary meetings involving imaging.
