Purpose
This role is part of a wider, senior management team reporting directly to the Board of Directors.
While there will be an initial requirement for you to work alongside our part-time Health and Safety
Manager, you will be expected to take the lead role for all Health and Safety at the site.
You will be required to continually drive and improve health and safety practices across the entire site towards achieving a safe, healthy and productive workplace for all.
The company has a future desire to work towards attaining ISO45001 certification to align with the
ISO14001 and ISO9001 certifications already achieved.
Key Responsibilities
• Enforce health and safety policies in accordance with current legislation, company direction
and customer requirements.
• Enhance existing risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
• Deliver/facilitate induction, instruction and training where appropriate along with supporting
documentation.
• Monitor workplace safety and carry out regular inspections and audits.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports; recommend and instigate
corrective actions.
• Effectively communicate the organisations compliance aims and objectives to all staff.
• Organise and chair H&S management meetings to develop and broadcast strategy.
• Maintain accurate compliance documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required reports.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
• Work closely with contractors to ensure that appropriate risk controls are in place and adhered
to.
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum of NEBOSH Certificate or NVQ Equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Ability to compile and analyse data/information and prepare associated reports.
• Strong IT skills including proficiency using Microsoft 365.
• Proficiency with safety management systems would be desirable.
Experience
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the chemical and/or
manufacturing industry.
• Proven track record of implementing safety programs and reducing workplace incidents.

• Ability to self-manage, work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to effectively balance hands-on involvement and strategic focus.
• Broad understanding of operational activities and how the Health and Safety function interacts
