We’re partnering with one of the UK’s leading providers of industrial, medical, and special gases – a global organisation focused on safety, sustainability, and innovation – to recruit a Senior Project Engineering Manager. This is a field-based role with hybrid flexibility (2–3 days per week), offering the opportunity to lead significant projects across multiple external sites.
The Opportunity
A key leadership position, this role is ideal for a Project Engineering professional ready to take ownership of high-value projects. You'll lead cross-functional teams on external customer sites, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard of safety, technical compliance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate all project engineering activities, with a particular focus on external site delivery
* Manage multi-disciplinary teams on customer locations, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations
* Drive project prioritisation, resource planning, and workload management across multiple workstreams
* Offer hands-on leadership and technical guidance throughout project lifecycles
* Maintain strong alignment with customer expectations and internal stakeholders, ensuring engineered solutions meet business needs
* Promote simplification and standardisation of processes and designs, fostering a culture of value engineering
* Ensure full SHEQ compliance across all project phases, including risk assessments and regulatory audits
* Use project management tools to drive timely delivery and performance reporting via defined KPIs
About You
* Degree-qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related)
* Chartered Engineer status is advantageous but not essential
* 10+ years' experience within engineering environments such as construction, industrial, or manufacturing
* Proven track record in leading project teams on external sites
* Strong knowledge of safety standards, regulatory frameworks, and technical project delivery
* A proactive and accountable leader, able to balance hands-on involvement with strategic oversight
