Job Description

We are seeking a committed Maths Teacher to deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences, aligned with the national curriculum and school policies. This role involves planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons that inspire and challenge learners, assessing pupil progress, and addressing individual learning needs. The successful candidate will cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promote active participation, and uphold high standards of behaviour and achievement.


Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver stimulating mathematics lessons tailored to all learners, ensuring compliance with the national curriculum.
* Regularly assess, record, and report on pupil progress, providing constructive feedback to pupils and their parents or carers.
* Develop and implement well-structured schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources.
* Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment by effectively managing pupil behaviour.
* Identify and address individual learning needs, offering additional support or interventions when necessary.
* Contribute actively to departmental and whole-school meetings, supporting curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.
* Keep accurate records of attendance, assessments, and other relevant documentation.
* Promote the school’s values and consistently adhere to safeguarding and health and safety procedures.


Essential Qualifications

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Mathematics or a closely related subject.


Education and Professional Development

* Completed teacher training with a focus on mathematics education.
* A commitment to continuous professional development in both teaching practise and subject knowledge.


Experience

* Proven experience teaching mathematics to secondary school pupils, preferably across Key Stages 3 and 4.
* Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons that promote pupil progress.
* Experience working within a school setting, with an understanding of school routines and effective classroom management.


Knowledge and Skills

* Strong subject knowledge of mathematics, including curriculum content and assessment criteria.
* Effective classroom and behaviour management strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage pupils and collaborate with colleagues and parents or carers.
* Ability to differentiate teaching to meet the diverse needs of learners.
* Highly organised, with proficient record-keeping and time-management abilities.
* Competent use of information and communication technology to enhance teaching and learning.


Desirable Qualifications and Experience

* Experience teaching GCSE Mathematics and familiarity with examination specifications.
* Additional training or qualifications in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
* Experience working with pupils of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
* Knowledge of educational assessment tools and data analysis.


Working Conditions

* This is a full-time temporary role, typically during standard school hours, with occasional additional duties such as meetings or school events.
* The position is primarily based within a classroom environment at a school in Redcar, North Yorkshire.
* The role requires standing for extended periods and actively engaging with pupils.
* Flexibility to adapt to curriculum changes or school policies during the assignment is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
