Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a leading, successful and growing manufacturing business based in Stroud, Gloucestershire to recruit a dynamic Accounts Assistant to join their accounting function. A hands-on and varied role reporting directly to the Head of Finance. The role will involve transactional processes, from purchase ledger processing, statement reconciliations and payments through to supporting month-end duties, balance sheet reconciliations and more. A great opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant looking to add value to a close-knit team or a purchase ledger officer seeking a more varied role with development opportunities. Open to candidates who are qualified by experience but can also support an AAT study package if you are actively studying.
Your new role
Your key duties will involve all aspects of purchase ledger, invoicing processing on Sage, supplier account management, supplier payments & foreign currency processes. Credit card statement reconciliations, resolving financial queries and ad-hoc financial administration. You will support month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the fixed asset register. You will be involved in payroll set-up processes, expenditure reporting and support the Head of Finance in ad-hoc projects as the business grows further. The role can be tailored around the right candidate with future career progression if wanted.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Accounts Assistant role, you will have experience in a similar position, be comfortable with accounts payable processes, a strong attention to detail and be used to managing workloads to meet deadlines. You will have key MS Excel skills, strong communication skills to build relationships at all levels internally/externally and be willing to learn. You will be a team player but also used to using your own initiative, used to working within close-knit teams and adaptable to business needs. You will be AAT qualified or studying for an accounting qualification or qualified by experience with a positive and proactive mind-set. Experience with Sage 200, the manufacturing sector, small/medium-sized businesses, and a basic understanding of accounting principles is advantageous but not essential.
What you'll get in return
This permanent Accounts Assistant role offers a salary between £26,000 - £32,000 per annum, dependable on experience based in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Full-time and permanent with parking on-site, study package for AAT offered if applicable or required.
