This part time Band 7 role offers a unique opportunity to work as the Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood (SUDIC) Professional Lead and Senior Safeguarding Advisor (Adults) within Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. The position involves leading specialist activity across SUDIC and safeguarding adults, working with multi‑agency partners to support investigations, contribute to formal learning processes, and identify modifiable factors to strengthen prevention.
Responsibilities
* Lead the SUDIC rapid response process alongside the SUDIC Paediatrician.
* Provide compassionate support to families following a sudden unexpected death in childhood.
* Coordinate multi‑agency learning to enhance prevention and safety.
* Offer specialist advice, supervision, training, and leadership across the Safeguarding Adults Team.
* Review complex safeguarding concerns and act as a specialist Datix reviewer.
* Participate in statutory review processes and provide expert advice across the organisation.
* Lead workstreams, support service development, and deliver safeguarding training and supervision.
* Linemanage Specialist Safeguarding Adult Advisors.
Requirements
* Registered nurse with substantial experience in safeguarding adults and children.
* Strong professional curiosity and analytical and communication skills.
* Ability to work confidently in complex, sensitive, high‑risk situations.
* Emotional resilience and capacity to handle emotionally demanding work.
