Research Associate (Dexterous Soft Robotic Manipulators)
Join the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath to work on an ARIA-funded project developing next-generation intelligent and dexterous soft robotic manipulators.
About the Role
The Research Associate will deliver high-quality research on topics including:
* Develop model- and learning-based approaches for modelling soft robotic manipulators.
* Develop an analytical framework for understanding and designing dexterous soft robotic manipulators.
* Integrate framework components and validate experimentally.
* Collaborate with co‑designers in the ARIA group.
Qualifications
* PhD in a subject area directly relevant to the project.
* Experience in modelling, design, control or prototyping of robotic components and systems.
* Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and project‑management skills.
* Self‑motivated with strong communication skills.
Employment Details
Full‑time fixed‑term (36.5 h per week) until June 2028. A lower grade offer (Grade 6) is available if a suitable applicant cannot be found for the Grade 7 position. Applicants must be within six months of course completion and will be promoted to Research Associate once their PhD has been awarded.
