All About The Role

Join our Leaving Care Service as a Personal Advisor working with care experienced young people. Your day-to-day focus is to provide advice, assistance and support that helps care leavers prepare for independent living and achieve their wishes and goals for the future.

We are committed to aspirational outcomes: ensuring that every young person is living in suitable accommodation, has opportunities to engage in education, employment or training, and can contribute positively within the local community. Your responsibilities include 1:1 support for eligible and qualified young people, and you will act in accordance with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. You will also ensure all care leavers understand and can access our local offer.

As part of our corporate parent, you will support young people to achieve successful transitions into adulthood. We are aspirational, aiming for the best outcomes through SMART goals and a trauma‑informed, relationship‑based approach.

All About Our Team

Our service dynamics are built on mutual respect, collaboration and a shared commitment to making a difference. You will be part of a team that values open communication, continuous learning and peer support. In 2023, Peterborough's Children’s Services received an OFSTED judgement of inadequate, but we are now on an improvement journey with a stable, highly motivated management group and passionate Personal Advisors. Our purpose‑built office offers river and green space views and is conveniently located near main road and rail transport links, fostering collaboration and seamless integration of services for the best outcomes for our care leavers.

All About You

You will be committed to working with young people from diverse backgrounds, promoting good outcomes for all our care leavers. You will be passionate about care experienced young people, tenacious in your approach, and have a clear understanding of the multiple barriers that our young people can face as they navigate to independence. You will be resilient, flexible, empathetic, enjoy building relationships with young people, and be confident in networking with partners and advocating for young people in a range of settings.

You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording is kept. You must have excellent organisational skills, must be passionate about working with young people to improve their outcomes, and work in partnership with other agencies involved with the young persons. You have a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant work area. You will have access to a car and be willing to travel around and outside the Peterborough local authority area (driving essential).

Your unique perspectives and experiences are encouraged and valued and will play a vital role in our success.
