Job Description

As a Housing Officer within the Homelessness Team, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of services to homeless households.


Core Responsibilities

You should have experience working in a housing support service with clients in vulnerable or distressed situations.

You should understand current issues and legislation relating to the protection of children and vulnerable adults.

You should be proficient with IT packages, including Academy and the Microsoft Office Suite.

You should demonstrate the ability to organise and prioritise work, respond and adapt to changing priorities to deliver a quality service.

You should possess excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with a variety of agencies.


Required Skills & Qualifications

* Experience in housing support with vulnerable clients.
* Knowledge of legislation protecting children and vulnerable adults.
* Practical knowledge of Academy and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
* Excellent communication and liaison abilities.


Job Details

* Location: East Kilbride Local Office
* Hours: 35 hours per week, Permanent
* Work Pattern: Monday – Thursday 8.45am – 4.45pm; Friday 8.45am – 4.15pm
* Salary: £32,337 – £33,231 per year

This post is excepted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Scotland Act 2020.

This post is a Regulated Role with Adults under the Disclosure Scotland Act 2020, and applicants barred from working with adults may not apply.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check before a formal offer is made.


Criminal Records Checks

An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required for applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked outside the UK for more than three months in the past ten years. Applicants must provide evidence of the check, translated into English and including an official statement confirming no history of or pending criminal record proceedings.


Eligibility & Checks

Canvassing of elected members or employees of South Lanarkshire Council in connection with this appointment disqualifies applicants.

Preferred candidates identified after the selection event may be asked to assist the recruitment team with recruitment checks; failure to complete checks within a reasonable timescale may lead to withdrawal from the position.
