Overview
The Environment Agency seeks a Commercial Services Manager to support the team overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors. The role is critical for maximising returns on budgets, demonstrating value for money, and delivering best‑practice commercial frameworks across the Agency’s programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide commercial governance for Agency contracts, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
* Set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term partnership arrangements.
* Deliver commercial assurance, champion effective governance, and act as a commercial subject‑matter expert.
* Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external contractors.
* Undertake incident response duties as required and support sustainability initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* A‑Level qualifications, Level 3 qualifications or equivalent.
* Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management and commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations and deliver value for money.
* Strong data and document management skills, with experience of drafting minutes and reports.
* Willingness to undertake long‑term professional qualifications such as NEC training or CIPS.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
* Recognition with a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
