Our team in Lodging Search Experience domain is looking for curious, empathetic, and creative problem solvers with the growth mindset. We are a team of travel-loving makers, building a cutting-edge lodging shopping platform using open-source technologies. You will be responsible for building a best-in-class shopping experience for our lodging travellers and partners.
As a member of the team, you'll estimate engineering efforts, design your changes, implement, and test your changes, push to live, and triage production issues. You need to be collaborative, and curious as we build new experiences and improve existing frameworks powering the world's largest travel mobile apps at a scale only a few companies can match.
What you will do
* Be a part of our development team and actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, functional and technical design, development, testing and roll-out, and support
* Play a critical role in ensuring modular and scalable design and architecture of Android Apps
* Find creative and simple solutions to challenging problems, with a focus on getting things done and a test & learn culture
* Write clean, coherent, well-documented code – participate in code reviews to ensure high quality standards
* Write automated unit, system, and acceptance tests as appropriate to support our continuous integration pipelines
* Continually strive to improve our development and delivery processes
* Work closely in a collaborative environment with other hardworking developers both local and in various other Expedia offices around the world
* Enhance a dynamic and close-knit software development team committed to mutual learning through peer code reviews and innovation
Who you are
* Bachelor's degree or Masters in Computer Science & Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience
* 2+ years Android Software Development work experience with proficiency in technologies like Java and Kotlin, familiarity with Android SDK tools, app lifecycle and architecture (MVVM/MVI)
* Worked with or knowledge of Jetpack Compose and Apollo/GraphQL
* Knowledge of API service connection paradigms
* Strong communication skills. You articulate your ideas to peers and leaders, providing details and understanding of your approach. You keep solid documentation
* Have an understanding of testing and monitoring tools (like Splunk, Datadog, Firebase, etc.)
* Able to test, debug and monitor your own code
* Able to collaborate and get results in a complex cross disciplinary working environment
* Demonstrates familiarity with associated technologies within their specialisation as part of the wider SDLC ecosystem. Example - CI/CD, Git, Github Actions
* Previous experience on large codebases
* Experience in Agile development

* Familiarity of collaborative interface design tools (eg. Figma) is a plus
