We are seeking an experienced and motivated Educational Psychologist to lead and further develop a growing multidisciplinary service across the North West of England. This is a senior role combining strategic leadership, applied psychology, and workforce development.
You will oversee a team of Assistant Educational Psychologists, an Occupational Therapist, and Neurodivergence Specialist, ensuring the delivery of high-quality assessments, interventions, and training. The role also includes contributing to our Training Federation and our specialist mentoring service (Aroa STET).
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Service Development
* Provide professional leadership to a multidisciplinary team, promoting high standards of evidence-based practice
* Lead the ongoing development of assessment, intervention, and training services
* Ensure compliance with HCPC requirements
* Contribute to strategic planning, service innovation, and growth
* Build strong partnerships with schools, local authorities, and others across the North West
Assessment & Psychological Practice
* Undertake high-quality psychological assessments
* Apply consultation, formulation, and systemic approaches to support children and young people
* Produce clear, accessible, and impactful psychological advice and reports
* Support schools and settings to implement effective, evidence-based interventions
Training & Workforce Development
* Design and deliver training for education staff, parents, and professionals supporting the development of the Aroa Training Federation
* Contribute to capacity building within schools through consultation and organisational support
* Develop and deliver resources that promote inclusive practice and early intervention
Supervision & Team Leadership
* Provide clinical supervision Assistant EPs and wider team members
* Support staff development, appraisal, and reflective practice
* Promote a collaborative, supportive, and psychologically-informed team culture
Specialist Mentoring Service
* Work closely with the specialist mentoring service; Aroa STET, to support children and young people out of education or education via EOTIS/C
* Provide psychological guidance, formulation, and consultation to mentors
* Support the integration of mentoring within broader intervention frameworks
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Doctorate in Applied Educational Psychology (DAppEdPsych)
* Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Eligibility for Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
* Post-qualification experience as an Educational Psychologist
* Strong skills in psychological assessment, consultation, and report writing
* Experience working with neurodivergent children and young people (e.g., autism, ADHD, SpLD)
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
