A growing clean-energy engineering company is looking for a hands-on Lead Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of electrical design across new technology development and live engineering projects.
You’ll be working on next-generation hydrogen power systems and ammonia cracking technology, helping bring complex energy systems from prototype through to deployment.
This role suits someone who still enjoys designing systems, reviewing schematics and solving real engineering problems, while supporting a small team of engineers.
What you'll be doing:
* Design and review electrical schematics and control panels.
* Define system-level electrical architectures.
* Produce electrical design documentation and manufacturing packs.
* Support build, integration, commissioning and FAT.
* Specify electrical equipment (motors, protection, instrumentation, cabling).
* Support safety and compliance activities (HAZOP, FMEA, SIL).
* Provide technical guidance to a small team of engineers.
This is a hands-on engineering role, not a purely managerial position.
The type of engineer we’re looking for:
You’ll likely have experience designing industrial electrical systems, such as:
* Machinery or equipment electrical systems.
* Industrial control panels.
* Automation or process systems.
* Power distribution and instrumentation.
Ideally you’ll also have:
* Strong electrical design experience using CAD tools.
* Knowledge of BS7671 and EN60204.
* Experience working on complex engineered systems.
* Exposure to PLC-based control systems (Siemens preferred).
Experience with ATEX or hazardous environments would be beneficial.
Why this role
* Work on cutting-edge hydrogen and clean energy technology.
* Be the technical lead for electrical design.
* Join a growing engineering team developing next-generation energy systems.
* Clear progression into future technical leadership.
