At Team Educate, we are working closely with a primary school in Birmingham seeking a compassionate, resilient, and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a primary-aged child with special educational needs and challenging behaviour.
The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with an ideal start in April 2025 until the end of the school year in July. There is a strong likelihood of continued employment into the next school year in September. As a specialist teaching assistant, your role will be on a 1:1 basis, supported by senior staff and the leadership team. Free training will be provided prior to starting.
Responsibilities
* Provide individualised support for a child with SEND, adapting strategies to meet their needs.
* Implement and follow EHCP targets and behaviour management strategies under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher.
* Use positive behaviour management techniques to support emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
* Develop a trusting relationship with the child to encourage confidence and independence.
* Create a calm, structured, and inclusive environment that promotes positive learning experiences.
Required Experience
* Previous experience (preferably 2+ years) supporting children with SEND and challenging behaviour, ideally in a school setting.
* Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language Difficulties, and SEMH needs.
* Strong behaviour management skills with a patient and empathetic approach.
* A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent) is desirable.
* Excellent spoken and written English.
The Role
* Position: Specialist SEND Teaching Assistant
* Duration: Full Time (Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30), Term time only
* Pay Rate: £95-£105 per day
* Start: April 2025, until July 2025, with potential extension
