Camberley Health Centre are seeking an experienced qualified phlebotomist to join our friendly practice team. We require a phlebotomist to work 15 hours per week over a variety of shifts. Please no recruitment agencies.
Responsibilities
* Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample.
* Confirming the patient’s agreement to the collection of a blood sample and ensuring that the patient is comfortable and relaxed.
* Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with practice protocols.
* Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers and are accurately labelled.
* Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request.
* Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedures.
* Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
* Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
* Notifying the clinical team of any significant patient issues.
* Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.
* Undertake training and development as required in line with the responsibilities of the post and practice policies.
Additional Responsibilities
* Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead.
* Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
* Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.
* Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential:
* Relevant qualification in venepuncture.
* Good standard of general education.
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
* Good listening and organisational skills.
* Experience of working with the public.
* Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure.
* Excellent customer care skills.
* Disciplined and organised, with the ability to work under pressure and manage own time.
* Able to work as part of a team and autonomously.
* Effective time management (planning and organising).
* Able to collect and collate data.
* Working with the general public.
* Working in a healthcare setting.
* Microsoft Office packages including PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other IT skills acquired through training and practical experience.
* Working within the NHS or general practice environment.
* Dealing with the public/patients in a caring environment.
* Aware of need for strict infection prevention control.
* Desirable:
* Working with EMIS Web clinical systems, polite and confident.
* High levels of integrity and loyalty.

We are a friendly practice, serving a diverse community of approximately 10,000 patients. Our multidisciplinary team includes GPs, nurses, advanced nurse practitioners, healthcare assistants, medical administrators/receptionists, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
