Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant – Primary

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team. This role involves working closely with children who have a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with diverse SEN needs
* Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
* Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
* Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
* Support pupils with personal care where required
* Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to staff
* Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
About You
We are looking for someone who:
* Has experience working with children with SEN (school or care setting)
* Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
* Has strong communication and teamwork skills
* Can adapt to the individual needs of each child
* Is proactive and able to use initiative
* Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Desirable (but not essential):
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant)
* Experience with autism or SEMH needs
* Knowledge of behaviour support strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or Team Teach)
