We are currently supporting a growing Specialty Insurance business thats investing heavily in data, analytics and modern BI capability. The role:
You would work closely with the Head of Data Analytics & Insights, helping the business leverage insight from ideation through to delivery. The work is a mix of hands‑on BI development, data modelling, stakeholder engagement and building scalable data solutions.
We are looking for a technically strong BI Developer to join a central Analytics & Insights function within a growing data team. This role sits in one of three analytics teams and is focused on business engagement, insight generation and delivering enterprise‑scale BI solutions, not self‑service reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build and maintain enterprise‑scale BI solutions.
* Develop end‑to‑end Power BI solutions including front‑end dashboards, DAX, M queries and semantic modelling.
* Build robust, optimised SQL Server data models and queries.
* Work within a Databricks environment (SQL/PySpark exposure is beneficial; training provided if needed).
* Engage directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand challenges and translate them into technical solutions.
* Support transformation initiatives, including data modelling, documentation and process improvement.
* Collaborate with domain experts, particularly within underwriting and claims.
* Produce high‑quality dashboards and reporting that clearly link insights to business outcomes.
* Contribute to ongoing projects to quickly integrate into the team and deliver value.
What Were Looking For
Technical Skills
* Strong Power BI experience (front and back end) – DAX, M Query, dataflows, semantic modelling.
* Advanced SQL Server skills (must be strong; key requirement).
* Experience working in a Databricks environment (or willingness to upskill).
* Ability to build enterprise‑scale, non‑self‑service BI solutions.
Experience & Attributes
* Ideally some experience in insurance.,
* Strong stakeholder engagement; able to gather requirements and explain data concepts clearly.
* Experience with data modelling and linking BI outputs to real business outcomes.
* Curious, proactive and capable of operating in a fast‑paced environment.
