What you’ll do…

We're hiring a Technical Trainer to join our Technical Training team. We need a dynamic, engaging, and passionate individual who will Inspire and train our forestry colleagues, helping to develop their skills and grow our internal apprenticeship program .

This will involve delivering elements of the Forest Craftsperson Apprenticeship such as fencing, mensuration, tree ID and harvesting, and other core forestry skills training to meet our business needs and strategic objectives.

You will also collaborate with the Health and Safety team and the wider business to support key strategic goals.

Where you’ll work…

The location of this post is ideally at the Cannock Chase Training Centre, however this may be open to negotiation depending on the successful candidate. Blended and home working arrangements will also be considered.

The role involves dealing with contacts across the UK, and regular travel with overnight stays.

Personal Specification...


Essential

* Good knowledge and experience across a range of practical Forestry skills.
* Proven track record of delivering both practical skills training and classroom-based activities.
* Proven track record in planning and managing own timetable of work and the ability to work on own initiative.
* Excellent communication skills.


Desirable

* Knowledge of various training methods including coaching, workshops, classroom training, mentoring and e-learning programmes
* Ability to track the performance of training programmes, write reports and recommend strategies for improvement.
* Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating a range of training events across a broad range of topics.
* Good understand of the training cycle and its relevance to effective training.


Professional and Technical Expertise


Essential

* Recognised Brushcutter qualification.
* Experience in stock and deer fence construction.
* Recognised Clearing saw qualification.
* First Aid and appropriate endorsement.
* Recognised Training Qualification at L3 or above or willing to achieve this within 9 months.


Desirable

* Successful background in delivering training.
* Assessor qualification for example D32/ D33 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

NPTC/Lantra certificates in the following.

* Safe use of pesticides (PA1)
* Pesticide application using handheld applicators (PA6a)
* Chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting
* Felling trees up to 380mm
* Felling trees over 380mm

Location: Health, Safety and Technical Training, Cannock Training Centre, Birches Valley, Rugeley, Staffordshire, WS15 2UQ

You will be asked to write a 200 word statement on your relevant experience and career history, along with a personal statement of no more than 500 words. You will be assessed on both during sifting. More details about how to apply are listed on the application form.

You will be assessed on a technical skill and experience based questions during your interview.
