Job Overview
As part of the Provide multi-disciplinary team, provide a comprehensive paediatric occupational therapy service for children from birth to nineteen years who present with developmental concerns.
Key Responsibilities
* Gain consent and undertake occupational therapy assessment, clinically diagnose, formulate and implement treatment plans using specialist knowledge and experience.
* Maintain knowledge of a wide range of paediatric conditions and treatment modalities, and use advanced clinical reasoning and problem solving skills.
* Interpret non-clinical facts based on a risk assessment.
* Work in community clinics, homes, schools, nurseries, in line with service requirements; assist in other regions where tender process has been won.
* Provide hands‑on treatment, demonstrating dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, precision and palpatory senses for assessment and therapeutic handling of patients to facilitate movement and development of physical skills; present treatment programmes through age‑appropriate play and approaches.
* Have good knowledge and understanding of children’s services and processes across Health, Education, Social Care and the Voluntary Sector.
* Assess and arrange for provision of specialist aids and equipment e.g. postural seating and splinting.
* Undertake risk assessments for children regarding manual handling and share with parents/carers and school/nursery.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Occupational Therapy qualification obtained.
* Minimum 5 years paediatric experience.
* Driving qualification – full clean driving licence and appropriate insurance.
Desirable criteria
* Membership with RCOT.
* Specialised knowledge (ASD, CP, developmental stages, multi‑agency collaboration).
* Assessment skills (equipment, standardised assessments).
* Communication skills.
* Supervisory experience.
