Job Summary:
We are looking for a Chef to join our team at Southampton University Hospital. The post holder will prepare, produce, present, and serve menu items required for service users, ensuring a clean and safe working environment, adhering to Health and Safety practices and food hygiene regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist the Head Chef in planning menus, seeking input from the team.
* Prepare daily menu items for patients, staff, and visitors.
* Produce, present, and serve function menus as required.
* Clean and sanitize work areas.
* Organize chill and freezer storage daily, ensuring cleanliness.
* Use equipment correctly and carefully.
* Maintain hygiene standards in all food preparation and production areas.
* Comply with food hygiene regulations, HACCP policies, and keep food samples daily.
* Be responsible for food production and presentation at all times.
* Monitor and record temperatures of chillers, freezers, and food.
* Suggest and introduce new menu lines as appropriate.
* Prepare, produce, and present therapeutic and special diets for patients when required.
* Use materials correctly and follow standardized recipes.
* Receive deliveries as needed.
* Report faulty equipment.
* Monitor stock usage and wastage.
* Participate in and organize theme days.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the manager within your skill scope.
