We have a small team of ecologists in Inverness, as well as further teams across Scotland and in Central England who carry out work across the UK. Ideally we are looking for someone within commuting distance of our office in Inverness.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to take on a wide range of projects across all sectors, as well working closely with a local team to support project delivery in the area.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a BSc and/or MSc in Ecology or related discipline and a Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).

Essential Skills

The following skills are considered essential to the role:


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* A willingness to learn whilst working with our senior and consultant grade staff in Inverness and in the wider Scottish team
* Basic understanding or experience of field surveys for some of the following; habitats, birds, bats, water vole, otter, reptiles, invasive plants
* Willingness to work with contracting teams on site whilst undertaking nesting bird checks or Ecological Clerk of Works
* Ability to undertake desk-based assessments, using MAGIC and online resources
* Some experience of contributing to ecological reports or other technical documents

Desirable Skills

The following skills would be advantageous, but are not an essential requirement for the role:

* A protected species licence holder (Schedule 1 birds, bats, otter, badger and/or water vole)
* Some awareness of commerciality, for example through contributing to pricing work and writing fee proposals
