Kirklees Council is advertising this role on behalf of West Yorkshire History Centre.
West Yorkshire Archive Service (WYAS) is recruiting an archivist for a full-time post, based at West Yorkshire History Centre (WYHC), Wakefield.
Location & Hours
Wakefield and surrounding areas
37 hours per week
Permanent position, full-time (Monday to Friday; some weekend and evening work may be required).
Responsibilities
* Run a searchroom and answer enquiries.
* Manage a small team of archive assistants and volunteers.
* Catalogue, maintain collections and engage audiences.
* Participate in physical upkeep required for the role and travel to other WYAS service points as necessary.
Qualifications & Experience
* Postgraduate or master's qualification in Archives and Records Management.
* Previous experience in a local authority archive service, with emphasis on public-facing searchroom work and staff management.
* Knowledge of local authority collections and local history.
* Familiarity with archival cataloguing standards, relevant ICT systems and archive cataloguing software, preferably CALM.
* Fitness level to meet physical aspects of the role.
