Health Care Support Worker - Neurorehabilitation

Are you a dedicated and motivated Health Care Support Worker who would like the opportunity to come and work in the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences as part of Salford Care Organisation at the Devonshire Unit Neuro Rehabilitation
The Devonshire Unit is based in Stockport and will be apart of the Northern Care Alliance from the 1stMarch 2026.
The Devonshire Unit is an 18 bedded Neuro Rehabilitation ward. The nursing team work closely alongside the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients are supported through their rehabilitation.
As a Health Care Support Worker you will assist the nursing team to carry out routine health related activities and complete personal care and activities of daily living ensuring patient led focused care
You will record patient information and provide clinical support as required to help ensure the efficient and effective running of the ward providing 1:1 supervision of patients where necessary, assisting with all activities of daily living, clinical observations, taking blood sugars, completing documentation plus many more.
You will provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
* Personal care of hyper acute neuro rehab patients.
* Ensure quality and safety checks are completed.
* Ensure bed spaces are ready for use promptly.
* Assist in the admission and discharge of patients.
* Establish and maintain communication with patients, relatives and carers and the multidisciplinary team to be able to provide holistic patient care.
* Develop own skills and knowledge and provide information to others to help their development.
* Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.
* Ensure own actions help to maintain quality.
* Assist in assessing people's health and wellbeing and related needs.
* Assist in planning, delivering and evaluating programmes to meet people's health and wellbeing needs.
* Assist in the use of technology for measurement, monitoring and treatment.
* Ability to work flexibly and unsociable hours to meet the demands of the service.
* Preparation of specialist equipment including Bronchoscopy.
* 1:1 care of restless / agitated patients

Person Specification
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Experience of working with members of the public or a desire to work in the Health Service
* Understanding of routine work procedures gained through a short induction period and on the job training
* Experience of working within a health or social care environment
* Experience of working within a team
Qualifications
* Care Certificate either upon appointment or within 12 weeks of commencement
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
* NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship
Skills & Abilities
* Basic IT skills
* Good organisational skills
* Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
