This is an exciting opportunity in the Grand Central Safety team as a Business Safety Specialist on a 6 month fixed term contract. The role is based at Wakefield, York, or Sunderland with flexibility to work across the Grand Central network, Arriva partners, and occasionally remotely. The role involves collaboration with Operational, Fleet Management and Traincrew teams on our train services.

Responsibilities
* Coordinate and provide operations and safety guidance at traincrew depots, offices and maintenance depots
* Support accident and incident investigations, ensuring documentation is obtained from managers and traincrew
* Provide technical safety support
* Collate operational safety performance information and support the production of the Grand Central safety performance report
* Coordinate the development of company-wide or local risk management and safe system of work processes
* Support the annual audit plan
* Support all operational, safety and environmental training requirements for GC staff, including briefing packs and bulletins
* Lead on safety projects and have autonomy to investigate new solutions
What you will need to be successful
* NEBOSH certificate or equivalent
* Knowledge of operational rules, regulations, instructions including company policies and standards for safe operations
* Ability to use initiative and work as part of a team
* Recognised accident/incident investigation qualification is desirable
* Industry recognised training qualification is desirable
Specific additional training would be provided, as required, to the right candidate.
