Job Overview
The post‑holder will be responsible for the management of a defined caseload of TB patients (and contacts) and will provide specialist nursing support, advice, education and/or care to that specific group. They will carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards within the TB service. The post‑holder will have responsibility for a defined caseload of TB patients and will provide an effective and high quality patient‑focused service that is sensitive to the needs of users and providers. The post‑holder will provide clinical, social and psychological support to their patients/service‑users using excellent communication skills, education and health promotion to enable them to reach their optimum level of independence and health.
Responsibilities
* Manage a defined caseload of TB patients (and contacts); assess needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
* Set standards within the TB service.
* Provide clinical, social and psychological support to patients/service‑users.
* Use excellent communication skills, education and health promotion to enable patients to reach optimum independence and health.
Qualifications
* Minimum 4 years post registration experience (including 2 years in the medicine speciality).
* Experience working with TB patients is desirable.
* Excellent decision‑making and clinical assessment skills.
* Full driving licence and use of a car for work purposes.
About the Team
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse to join the TB team based at St. Luke’s Hospital. The successful candidate will support and develop the service. The TB team meets the needs of the local population and ensures a high standard of care in relation to screening and treatment of TB. The nurse in post will also work closely with the respiratory and infectious diseases teams and UKHSA.
