Overview

Independence Support ISL is recruiting for Support Workers - Learning Disabilities to join our team in Kendrick (Kendal) in the supported living service. We provide bespoke support to adults with diverse needs, including mental health issues, learning disabilities, autism/Asperger's, acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and support for older individuals. Our services are designed to help individuals achieve their goals through supported housing, employment/vocational assistance, home help, community involvement, short-term support, and developing housing and support options with partners.


Role

We are recruiting support workers to join the team in our supported living service in Kendal. The role involves supporting people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities, including those with multiple complex needs. You may work with individuals who present challenges and provide support with personal care. The aim is to enable people to live as independently as possible in their own home by building skills, independence and vocation.


Responsibilities

* Provide person-centered support to adults with learning disabilities and related needs in a supported living setting.
* Assist with personal care and daily living activities as required.
* Support individuals to develop practical skills and independence (e.g., daily routines, housing tasks, social engagement, and employment/vocational activities).
* Contribute to the development and implementation of individual support plans and risk assessments.
* Monitor wellbeing, observe changes, and maintain accurate records and handovers to the team.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external partners to meet each person’s goals.
* Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection policies.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Flexible, reliable, and committed to delivering outcome-focused support.
* Some experience in a similar setting is desirable; circumstances of supported individuals may be complex.
* Full induction training will be provided.
* All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Working Arrangements

* We recruit for Full Time, Part Time, and Bank roles.
* Hours and shift patterns include days and nights.
* Staff must be flexible across a 7-day rota to meet the needs of the people we support.
