We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Electrical Team Leader to join our Production team at our Newport facility. This is a key leadership role within the production team, reporting directly to the Manufacuturing Production Manager.
As the Electrical Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring production targets are met, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You will lead a team of skilled technicians, support continuous improvement initiatives, and play a vital role in developing team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and training.

* Leads the team(s) that performs a wide variety of assembly tasks involving the use of a variety of machinery and hand tools on the production line.
* Completes work in accordance with relevant documentation and other specifications, ensuring safety, quality and productions targets are achieved by self and the team(s).
* Support quality, productivity, and process improvement initiatives.
* Ensure area of work is clean, well-organised and safe; and adheres to Company housekeeping processes.
* Carry out lean production activities.
* Ensure all staff have a clear understanding and comply with the rules, regulations, standards and policies in place.
* Organise and communicate job expectations to team(s).
* Monitors team(s) to ensure objectives/targets are achieved on time.
* Ensure all records are completed correctly and on time. Organise and communicate job expectations to team(s).

* Liaise with manager to ensure resource levels are in place to achieve planned activities.
* Review work in progress across team(s) and make certain that the order of tasks and allocation of resources creates maximum efficiency.
* Ensure the correct use and operation of machinery and equipment and ensure that all routine daily maintenance and safety checks are carried out on time. 16.0 Carry out team briefings and tool box talks.
* Liaise with Line Manager to ensure team members are competent to carry out full range of tasks and have received appropriate levels of training in area of work.
* Carries out assessment of competence for team and others as required.
* Carry out training / act as coach and mentor to enable better performance and development of skills within team(s) and others.
* Participate in the induction and on-going training of employees.
* Carries out role of First Aider and/or Fire Marshal.
* Pro-actively seek out process improvements and efficiency savings, recommending to line manager where improvements can be made, or costs reduced. Ensure equipment is maintained and fully operational by liaising with other experts regarding repairs/maintenance checks where necessary, ensuring adequate materials are available or ordered in sufficient time to eliminate shortages.
* Ensure equipment/plant is maintained and fully operational, reporting damage/breakdowns in a timely manner.
* Report on progress/constraints influencing work plans as appropriate.
* Supports other teams/departments and assists management for various production related duties as required.
Training required
Essential:
* NVQ Level 3 / Modern Apprenticeship in a related field
* Qualified Assessor / Train the Trainer or prepared to study towards
Desirable:
* IOSH Qualificiaton or equivalent safety qualification
* ILM Level 3 in Leadership & Management (or equivalent)
Required professional experience
Previous experience of leading a team on a shift basis in a modern manufacturing or heavy engineering environment. Good knowledge of plant operating procedures. Experience of ‘lean manufacturing’ tools and techniques. Experience in a similar role within Manufacturing Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Able to respond and adapt to changing circumstances, and stay focused and motivated in a pressured environment. Able to take a proactive, dynamic approach to manage and provide solutions to problems in a climate of continuous improvement. Able to take ownership and responsibility for own work. Strong organisational skills and able to use initiative. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience of promoting safe working practices in a safety critical workplace. Able to maintain accurate records. Able to work flexibly across a broad range of activities as the role evolves.
