Behaviour Support Worker
Location: Blackburn
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £95-£110 per day
Start Date: February
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support Worker for an SEMH provision in Blackburn. You will be working in 1 to 1 and small groups with young people who have additional needs, including ADHD, ASD, emotional regulation difficulties and SEMH.
The ideal candidate will have experience within the classroom, or strong experience in related fields.
Due to the nature of the students, you must be comfortable managing emotional dysregulation, challenging behaviour, and maintain a level of calmness when faced with aggression.
This is a position where you’ll have to manage high levels of challenging behaviour, this can include both verbal and physical aggression depending on the needs of the young person.
Your Role as a Behaviour Support Worker
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:
1. Provide classroom support across core subjects
2. Work 1:1 with students.
3. Help adapt activities to support different learning needs
4. Encourage positive participation, focus and confidence in lessons
5. Support the class teacher with learning resources and routines
6. Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive school environment
7. Manage high levels of challenging behaviour
We’re Looking For
8. Experience supporting children or young people (school, tutoring, youth work, care, coaching all welcome)
9. A proactive and patient approach
10. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
11. Good communication and teamwork skills
12. Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
13. Robust and comfortable with challenging behaviour
TA/BSW experience is beneficial, but not essential. We welcome applications from graduates and career changers looking to start a rewarding role in education.
