Base location - Barnsley
Salary - £49,995 - £63,832 plus excellent employee benefits and career progression
Job Purpose
Manage the safe and economic delivery of operational activities associated with our “New Business” workstream within Lighting and Grid, across multiple depots within the North region. The work activity spans various size street lighting projects and domestic connections working with multiple clients, and a team comprising Operational Supervisors, Commercial Engineers, Administrators, and field-based operatives, both Direct Labour & Sub-Contractors.
Here's What You'll Be Doing
Engage with the New Business Contracts Manager to align with the North region's strategic and sustainable growth plan. Ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of the works, focusing on safety and performance.
Main Responsibilities Of The Role
* Manage all operational activities safely, meeting time, cost, and quality objectives, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation & standards.
* Manage supervisory and operational staff, including performance management and disciplinary issues.
* Monitor and improve the operational performance of the North Region New Business to maximize efficiencies and meet financial targets.
* Develop and maintain key customer relationships (Existing & New).
* Promote a culture of well-being and lead by example.
* Manage employee attendance and support development and training plans.
* Full accountability for managing the operational aspects of the North Region New Business workstream.
* Develop a regional works programme matching resource capacity to volumes, optimizing resources, increasing performance, and driving productivity.
* Manage all controllable costs within Operations for the North Region New Business.
What We Need From You
* Proven ability to manage multiple operational teams covering diverse activities.
* Understanding of electrical engineering, technical, and operational requirements.
* Track record of delivering operational performance targets, including finance and customer service.
* Personal drive and motivation skills.
* Knowledge of management accounting, budgeting, and cost-saving opportunities.
* Understanding of health and safety responsibilities with relevant qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
* Leadership skills to motivate and manage teams, fostering excellence and customer focus.
* Supportive of team development through performance management.
* Full valid driving license required.
