Inspire the Next Generation at Wadebridge School
Are you an enthusiastic, passionate Teacher of Design & Technology with a proven track record of strong outcomes looking to join a successful and supportive school? Wadebridge School is seeking a qualified Teacher of Design & Technology to join our well-resourced and thriving Design & Technology department. This role would be suitable for an experienced teacher or early career teacher (ECT).
Why Wadebridge?
Wadebridge School is an oversubscribed highly successful 11-16 academy with a strong reputation for academic excellence and student support. We are proud to be a Single Academy Trust, meaning we can focus on what matters most – our students, staff, and wider community. As a school, we invest in professional development, encourage innovation, and provide a collaborative and supportive working environment.
About the Role
Within Design and Technology, students study a wide range of specialist subjects across key stage 3 including Product Design, Textiles, Architecture and Food and Nutrition. At Key stage 4, students have the option of studying AQA GCSE Product Design and WJEC Hospitality and Catering, with both areas continually increasing in popularity and success. We have strong links to industry and frequently work with local businesses and chefs in the local area to enhance student learning.
The Design Technology department is well resourced, with a dedicated IT suite, large workshops with separate teaching and practical spaces and three newly refurbished food classrooms. Our dedicated team is supported by 3 technicians.
This position would suit an experienced teacher with a track record of excellent student progress across Key Stage 3 and 4, or equally a newly qualified teacher who can demonstrate the potential to make a positive impact on students' outcomes. The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, confident, with an absolute commitment to the highest standards of teaching and learning and a genuine enthusiasm for nurturing a passion for technology.
Candidates should have energy and vision to build on the current progress of the department and be keen to develop existing modules of work to promote student participation, progress and attainment and to realise aspirational progress for all.

Values and vision
We aim to create a caring and stimulating environment in which high standards of learning and teaching are promoted and in which all students can achieve success. We endeavour to ensure all students develop a sense of self-esteem, responsibility and mutual respect. In a rapidly changing world we aim to equip each student with a range of transferable skills and the ability to make informed decisions. Employers want to see a balance between "qualifications" and those personal strengths which makes our young people so successful. Qualities and skills such as: resilience; honesty; effective communication; the ability to problem solve and to work independently or as a part of a wider team.
Ofsted
During our last full Ofsted inspection in December 2014 the team said:
* Because students develop resilience in their attitudes to learning and strive to do their best, they make good progress and attain well.
* The behaviour of the majority of students is consistently good. They are polite and courteous to each other, to staff and visitors.
Ofsted visited us again for a
short inspection in January 2018
when they noted:
* The sixth form remains a strength of the school, offering a range of courses and good success rates in examinations.
* That around the school, during lessons and breaktimes, pupils get on well with each other, and with their teachers.
