Aspire People are currently recruiting for a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Autism Specialist to work in a primary school in Coalville. This full-time role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a child with Autism, helping them engage in learning and navigate the school day with confidence.
About The Role
As a 1:1 Autism Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting a primary-aged child who requires consistent, individualised support. You will be responsible for helping the pupil access learning, manage transitions, and develop their communication and social skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Providing consistent 1:1 support to a child with Autism throughout the school day
* Implementing strategies and interventions based on the child's EHCP or support plan
* Supporting communication and interaction, using visual aids, prompts, or alternative methods where needed
* Encouraging positive behaviour and helping the child develop coping strategies
* Assisting with sensory needs or emotional regulation if required
* Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure the child's needs are fully met
* Creating a nurturing and structured environment to help the child feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
Requirements
* Previous experience working in a UK school setting, ideally in a 1:1 or SEN support role
* Specific experience working with children with Autism (ASD)
* Understanding of common autism strategies and interventions (e.g., PECS, visual schedules, sensory support)
* Patience, empathy, and consistency are essential
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build a strong, trusting relationship with the child
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider support team
