LITIGATION LAWYER – SHARED SERVICES

Salary: Up to £58,451.12 p.a.
Location: Broxbourne Borough Council and East Herts District Council
Contract: Permanent
Working pattern: Full Time
Hours: 37 hours per week
DBS check: Enhanced
Responsibilities
* Day‑to‑day management of the Council’s litigation service.
* Handle a varied and often complex caseload, including housing possessions, anti‑social behaviour, debt recovery, commercial property litigation, fly‑tipping, licensing matters, planning enforcement and other related matters.
* Represent the Council in County Court and Magistrate Court proceedings.
* Deliver a responsive, trusted and customer‑focused in‑house legal service.
* Manage complex workloads efficiently and support colleagues.
* Build rapport with a wide variety of stakeholders, including members of the public.
Qualifications
* Post‑qualification experience in litigation work.
* Excellent knowledge of court proceedings and strong advocacy skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
* Desirable: experience working within a local government environment.
* Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and to provide advice in fluent English.
* Disclosure and barring service check (working with children or vulnerable clients).
