As part of our "Where Our Children Live" programme, we are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Children's Residential Service as Senior Residential Child Care Workers.
There are two new settings opening in Skelmersdale: Pause & Reflect Home.
About the Role
As a Senior Residential Child Care Worker, you’ll play a key role in leading and supporting a team of practitioners. You’ll champion the care, safety, and development of children with complex needs, helping to implement care plans, promote education, and support emotional wellbeing.
You’ll also take a central role in inspections, safeguarding, and care planning, while being a role model for best practice, integrity, and compassion. You will support young people and families who have greater vulnerabilities and needs. You will be responsible for leading, motivating, and supervising a team of practitioners during overnight duties, both during the week and at weekends.
About the Home
The Pause & Reflect home is a 2‑Bedroom Home catering to young people aged 11‑17. Placements will be short‑term; we need individuals committed to providing care during this time and willing to go the extra mile.
Responsibilities
* Lead by example, acting as a shift leader.
* Champion the care, safety and development of children with complex needs.
* Support and implement care plans, education plans, and emotional wellbeing strategies.
* Mentor and guide staff, promoting high standards of practice.
* Contribute to safeguarding, inspections, and care planning processes.
This role operates on a rota basis, including a mix of days, evenings, weekends and sleep‑in shifts.
Qualifications
* At least 3 years’ experience in children’s social care or residential settings.
* Hold a QCF Level 4 or NVQ Level 3/4 (or equivalent).
* Be confident leading shifts and supervising staff as a Team Leader.
* Have strong knowledge of safeguarding and children’s legislation.
* Be resilient, compassionate, and committed to improving outcomes for young people.
