JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a proactive and communicative individual to join the Cornwall Council Transport Coordination Team as a Transport Officer. In this role, you will help plan, manage, and deliver the statutory home-to-school transport functions across Cornwall.
This position is subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess eligibility for statutory home-to-school travel assistance
* Support the development and management of efficient transport networks across Cornwall
* Engage confidently with the public, stakeholders, and Elected Members
* Learn to operate the Council’s transport management and planning software systems
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to find cost-effective solutions
* Work as part of a busy, rewarding team where no two days are the same
What You’ll Need To Succeed
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
* Comfortable engaging with the public, colleagues, and Elected Members
* Flexible, positive, with a can-do attitude and good time management skills
* Desirable but not essential: experience in contract management and network planning
* Ability to understand statutory requirements around home-to-school transport and procurement regulations
