We are seekingto appoint a dynamic and committed Consultant in Paediatric ENTfor this new post to join our expanding team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHSTrust. This is a new 10 PA postwithin the ENT department, based primarily at Leeds GeneralInfirmary, with potential sessions at Wharfedale Hospital.
The successfulapplicant will join a busy and highly specialised department, contributing tothe delivery of a high-quality tertiary referral service in Paediatric Otolaryngology, as well as providing generalENT on-call cover. The appointee will work alongside a multidisciplinary teamdelivering care across both outpatient and theatre settings, with access todedicated ENT inpatient and paediatric wards.
Leeds ENT is a thriving unit with 15 substantive consultants and a full complement oftraining and non-training grade doctors, offering comprehensive services acrossall ENT subspecialties. The department benefits from state-of-the-artfacilities, integrated clinical and office space, and strong links to the adjacentLeeds Childrens Hospital.

Main duties of the job
Thesuccessful applicant should possess FRCS ORL-HNS (or equivalent) and should beincluded on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time ofinterview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister. A fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology would be advantageous.
Applicants should haveestablished skills in Otolaryngology and its related specialties in particularPaediatric ENT. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teachingand a research interest is desirable.

Job responsibilities
The post holders willhelp provide a specialist paediatric ENT service within the department. It is a10.625 PA post. The post holders will strive to ensure that the Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust maintains and improves its standing nationally and delivershigh quality patient care within the framework of the NHS.
The ENT consultant post will offer an opportunity towork flexibly within the ENT department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals across theTrust, with the main base being Leeds General Infirmary, although there may bea requirement to work at Wharfedale Hospital and St James Hospital. Adequatetravel time will be allocated for any clinical activity at a different site tothe base hospital (Leeds General Infirmary). This will require a commitment toclose teamwork, so as to be able to offer timely interventions for patients. Aswell as having fixed clinic and theatre sessions, the post holder will coverclinic and theatre sessions, made vacant by colleagues' leave. This will allowa more efficient use of theatre and clinic space. ENT have a dedicated ward,L23, based in Jubilee Wing, and have use of the Paediatric wards, L49 &CSAL, in Clarendon Wing. Adult theatres are based mainly in Jubilee Wing, butENT operating is also completed in Gilbert Scott theatre suite and WharfedaleHospital. Paediatric Operating takes place in Clarendon Wing theatre suite. Forall Theatre lists, time is allocated in the job plan for Pre & Postoperative ward rounds.

* Attendance at recognised management course.
Qualifications
* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE CLEARLY STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Otolaryngology.
* Specifically, must demonstrate higher training in Paediatric ENT.
* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in Otolaryngology.
* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
* Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
* Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
