Job Title: Shift Manager Location: Clay Cross Hours: 4 on / 4 off 08:00 to 18:00 Reporting To: General Operations Manager Main Purpose of the Role: To manage the daily transport and warehouse operations, ensuring planned routes run smoothly, staff are effectively supervised, and all company policies, safety, and food compliance standards are met. The role acts as the link between the planning team and operational staff to ensure customer requirements are delivered efficiently and safely. Key Responsibilities: Ensure daily vehicle and driver schedules are followed. Monitor routes and make adjustments where required (delays, breakdowns, driver hours). Liaise with customers regarding delivery changes. Complete shift handovers and reports. Staff Management: Supervise drivers, warehouse staff, traffic clerks, and support staff. Conduct driver briefings and debriefings. Manage absence, conduct issues, and escalate where necessary. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and driver hours regulations. Maintain site and trailer park security. Investigate vehicle damage, accidents, and incidents. Carry out fuel card checks. Warehouse & Stock Oversee loading/unloading and stock control procedures. Manage returned goods and delivery non-conformances. Food Safety Ensure all food safety and HACCP procedures are followed. Carry out required plant checks (every 4 hours). Promote a strong food safety culture.
