The role
As a Head of Engineering, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping the strategic direction of engineering across Babcock’s Nuclear Sector. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll drive excellence in engineering management arrangements, compliance, and reporting.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the development and implementation of sector-wide engineering standards, ensuring our people, processes, and tools are aligned to deliver consistently and effectively.
1. Leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of Nuclear Sector Engineering Management Arrangements
2. Collaborating across Babcock globally to ensure the integrity of our engineering output
3. Driving the development and application of Technical Risk Management and Product Safety Arrangements for the sector
4. Measuring compliance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
5. Enhancing knowledge sharing and lessons learnt across the sector
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite (at either Devonport Royal Dockyard, Babcock Technology Centre in Bristol, HM Naval Base - Clyde, Leicester Radar Road or Barrow-in-Furness) and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Head of Engineering
6. Proven experience in high hazard or high consequence engineering environments
7. Strong engineering management background across the full product lifecycle
8. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
9. Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
10. Solid understanding of change and project management principles
Qualifications for the Head of Engineering
11. Degree level or higher in a STEM discipline
12. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration
