Overview
RPS Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced Planning Consultant to deliver high‑quality planning services across a diverse portfolio of projects in Ireland. Your core responsibilities will include producing planning reports, conducting site suitability assessments, contributing to environmental and socio‑economic impact studies, interpreting legislation, advising on planning strategies, and engaging stakeholders during pre‑application meetings.
Purpose & Scope of Role
As a Planning Consultant, you will:
* Prepare and review planning reports for a range of development schemes.
* Conduct site suitability assessments and contribute to environmental and socio‑economic impact studies.
* Interpret national and local planning legislation and advise on suitable planning strategies.
* Engage with stakeholders and attend pre‑application meetings.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated planning solutions.

You will quickly become a key contributor to planning projects, build strong client relationships, and take ownership of significant planning deliverables. In the long term you may advance into senior roles, lead major projects, and influence planning policy and strategy within the organisation.
Core Capabilities
* Planning Expertise in Ireland – Proven experience as a planning consultant in the Republic of Ireland, with strong knowledge of national and local legislation and policy frameworks.
* Large Commercial & Mixed‑Use Project Experience – Track record of working on substantial developments such as data centres, renewable‑energy schemes, and multi‑use sites.
* Communication & Stakeholder Engagement – Ability to articulate planning strategies clearly, both in writing and verbally, and engage effectively with clients, regulatory bodies and community stakeholders.
* Planning Report Writing & Analytical Skills – High‑quality planning reports, site suitability assessments, environmental impact chapters, and socio‑economic analyses.
* Adaptability & Resilience – Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, adapting to evolving project requirements and maintaining focus under pressure.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Planning or a related discipline – BSc or MSc in Regional / Urban / City / Town and Country Planning.
* Minimum 3 years’ professional planning experience in Ireland.
* Strong knowledge of planning legislation and strategic planning advice.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Desirable: Chartered membership of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) or equivalent professional body.
