The Role We are seeking enthusiastic and proactive Health & Fitness Co‑ordinators to support the delivery of outstanding health and fitness services across several Active North Yorkshire locations. Working closely with the Health & Fitness Manager, you will oversee the day‑to‑day operation of gym and studios, group exercise programmes, personal training, events, product development and health improvement initiatives. You’ll play a key role in managing the customer journey, supporting fitness teams, enhancing programme quality, and ensuring our offer remains inclusive, engaging, and commercially successful. Programme Delivery & Development Coordinate gym, personal training and group exercise programmes across assigned sites, ensuring consistency and quality. Support delivery of health improvement initiatives. Monitor and report on programme performance and customer insight to drive continuous improvement. Support development of inclusive or specialist health and fitness sessions. Provide site‑level insight to inform wider strategic decisions. Commercial & Financial Responsibility Support income growth across health and fitness services. Use local insight to help set and monitor participation and financial targets. Assist with budget oversight and operational efficiencies across multiple sites ensuring cost effect programmes whilst delivering users value for money. Team Leadership & Support Lead site‑based fitness meetings and ensure effective staff communication. Support recruitment, inductions, mentoring, and performance reviews of fitness staff. Coordinate CPD and other training opportunities. Community & Stakeholder Engagement Build strong relationships with local partners including schools, health providers and community organisations. Represent the health and fitness service in working groups and contribute to community engagement plans. Operational & Administrative Duties Use the leisure management systems to support scheduling, bookings and reporting. Assist with customer enquiries. Conduct audits of health and fitness provision and support health and safety compliance. Marketing & Communications Act as a key link between site teams and central marketing. Deliver targeted marketing campaigns and encourage participation. Ensure site communications align with commercial and engagement priorities. What You Will Bring Essential Skills & Experience Level 2 recognised health and fitness qualification. Strong experience coordinating or managing fitness programmes and commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. Knowledge of gym operations, group exercise, membership sales and personal training services. Experience coordinating shift patterns, scheduling staff training and undertaking performance reviews. Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in fitness environments. Confident use of leisure management systems and digital tools. Excellent communication, organisational, leadership and relationship‑building skills. Ability to lead and motivate a team.
