Band 5 Staff Nurse in Adult Critical Care Unit (ACCU)
We are excited to invite applications for the Band 5 Staff Nurse post to join our world-class Adult Cardiac Critical Care Unit (ACCU) at St Bartholomew's Hospital Heart Centre. This is a unique opportunity to rotate across three Critical Care Units, caring for a diverse range of patients including:
* Post-operative cardiothoracic and thoracic patients
* Heart Attack Centre patients
* Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) patients
* Vascular patients
* Cancer patients

We also support nurse-led research, fully backed by our Director of Research and Development.
This role will involve shift patterns of long days, nights and bank holidays to meet service requirements of the ACCU.
Main duties of the job
* Assess, plan, provide, and evaluate skilled evidence-based care for critically ill patients (L2 & L3). Ensuring quality care and patient safety are paramount.
* Support and develop colleagues by mentoring and assessing their skills.
* Promote practice development within Critical Care.
* Fulfil Local/Trust requirements in specified audit or project work.
* Maintain a safe working environment, complying with Health and Safety regulations and mandatory training.
* Provide skilled support to medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

* Registered Nurse (RN1) with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of UK
* Degree or equivalent in relevant field of study
* Intravenous accreditation
* Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable
* Prep for mentorship course or equivalent
* Evidence of professional development e.g. Acute care skills training
Experience
Essential
* Previous experience in an acute setting post qualification
Desirable
* Experience in caring for level 2/3 patients in critical care/high dependency setting or other acute setting

* Ability to manage and organise tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
* Strong verbal and written communication with precision and attention to detail
