About the Role:
A large multicultural school in East Manchester is seeking an EAL Support Assistant to help students for whom English is not their first language. You’ll work alongside the SENCO and EAL coordinator to ensure these learners can access the curriculum and thrive.
Main Responsibilities:
* Supporting newly arrived pupils in accessing mainstream lessons
* Running small group sessions focusing on speaking, reading and writing
* Supporting classroom teachers in adapting lesson materials
* Translating or simplifying content and instructions where appropriate
* Promoting cultural inclusion and pupil confidence
Ideal Candidate:
* Previous experience working with EAL students or in ESOL teaching
* A patient, inclusive approach to language learning
* Fluency in a second language (e.g. Urdu, Arabic, Polish, Romanian) would be advantageous
* Knowledge of literacy support strategies

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
