What will I be doing?
Through our waste contract with our client, SUEZ has committed to setting up re-use shops at our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) to resell donated items.
* As a shop operative, you will be in charge of the daily running of our re-use shop at the Thornbury HWRC, supporting the 4 HWRCs on the South Gloucestershire contract.
* Liaising with the Re-Use manager to ensure the shop is fully stocked, properly stored, labelled, and ready for sale.
* Collecting items from the 4 HWRCs.
* Pat testing electrical items.
* Replenishing stock.
* Promoting the re-sale shop.
This will involve you:
* Merchandising stock, organizing, preparing, pricing, and presenting donations for sale to increase sales and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Managing stock and communicating needs to the re-use manager.
* Reconciling credit card receipts, processing returns and refunds.
* Arranging collections and deliveries efficiently and cost-effectively.
* Maintaining the security of the shop premises and stock.
* Providing excellent customer service to encourage repeat business and ensure the smooth and profitable operation of the shop.
What are the requirements?
* You should be passionate about the environment and this re-use project, with prior retail experience and enthusiasm for excellent customer service.
* Knowledge of recycling and upcycling is desirable, or willingness to develop it. You should understand stock management, merchandising, and handling financial aspects of retail.
* A flexible attitude towards shift work and occasional weekends is required.
* Excellent teamwork skills are essential, as you will work closely with site staff on the HWRCs.
* You must be able to drive a 7.5-ton lorry.
