Working in our Chief Operating Office (COO)
Our COO Teams are the engine that powers Open Cosmos' operations. This division brings together mission management, supply chain, and quality & product assurance to make sure every mission is delivered smoothly, reliably, and to the highest standards. They turn plans into action, keeping us efficient and mission-ready at all times.
We're looking for a Logistics & Inventory Manager to take ownership of the end-to-end lifecycle of materials across Open Cosmos, from inbound components and internal material flow through to outbound shipments to global launch sites.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement & Supply Chain, you'll provide strategic oversight of global inventory, international freight and internal logistics, ensuring our Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) activities are supported by scalable, reliable and compliant logistics frameworks.
What will you be doing?
Inventory Management
* Owning and maintaining accurate, up-to-date company-wide inventory systems across all locations
* Overseeing inbound and outbound material flows, including receiving, inspection, logging and dispatch
* Implementing and monitoring stock control processes to prevent shortages and excess inventory
* Managing inventory databases and ERP systems to ensure accurate tracking and traceability
* Coordinating with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of materials
Strategic Logistics & Freight
* Designing and managing international shipping strategies, including customs compliance (Incoterms, commodity codes and export licences)
* Optimising outbound logistics for satellites, payloads and ground stations to global launch sites
* Managing relationships with freight forwarders and 3PL partners to ensure cost-efficiency and reliability
* Monitoring shipment performance and resolving delivery risks or delays
Lab & Materials Environment
* Ensuring lab and storage environments are safe, clean and organised to industry standards
* Maintaining calibration schedules and maintenance logs for lab equipment
* Managing tool tracking and shared equipment availability
* Supporting engineering teams in preparing and locating materials and equipment
* Enforcing lab access protocols and safety procedures
Process Improvement & Compliance
* Developing and improving inventory and logistics processes to increase efficiency and scalability
* Standardising inventory and materials management processes across all sites
* Supporting audits and ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry regulations
* Contributing to the setup and expansion of new lab and test facilities
What You'll bring
* Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse/logistics management or lab/materials environments
* Confidence working with inventory management tools or ERP systems
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple operational priorities
* High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and traceability
* Confidence working in a technical, engineering-led environment
* Strong communication and documentation skills
* Ability to lead, guide and develop team members
This role is based onsite at our premises in Harwell, Oxfordshire.
