Sport Welfare Project Officer
Contract: Fixed term until March 2027
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (flexible working)
Location: Home-based with national travel
Reports to: Strategic Lead - Welfare
Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to enhance the national coordination of a safeguarding and culture change initiative in sport. This fixed-term, national role focuses on practical support, insight, and collaboration.
About the role:
This role supports a national program aimed at improving safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will be part of a small team connecting and coordinating 63 Sport Welfare Officers across the country, ensuring they have the tools, support, and relationships needed to succeed.
Your responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a reliable contact, contributing to cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders like Sport England, CPSU, and ACT.
* Review evaluations, extract insights, and inform future activities.
* Create reports to help programme leads understand progress and needs.
* Coordinate project activities, including meetings and events.
* Assist with large-scale events and communications, ensuring inclusivity and practicality.
* Support the development of national tools and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure content reflects diverse needs and is accessible.
* Maintain good admin, communication, and collaboration to meet deadlines.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month for regional and national events, with occasional overnight stays.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills — rapport-building, listening, and sensitive communication.
* Excellent organization — managing time and tasks remotely.
* Openness to collaboration with diverse perspectives.
* Clear written communication tailored to different audiences.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback to inform decisions.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing.
* Proficiency with digital tools (email, video calls, shared documents, spreadsheets).
* Self-motivated and proactive, with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Work Environment and Support:
* Home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel 1-2 times/month, with 3-4 overnight stays/year.
* Flexible working options considered.
