Teaching Assistant Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday Pay : £100-£120 per day Contract: Long-term with potential to become permanent About the Role We are seeking a resilient, compassionate, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils within SEMH and Challenging Behaviour in the Swadlincote area. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping vulnerable young people re-engage with learning in a supportive, nurturing, and structured environment. The setting works with pupils who may have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. Your role will focus on building trust, supporting emotional regulation, and helping students develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed academically and personally. Key Responsibilities Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs Supporting pupils to access learning in a calm, structured, and safe environment Building positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and progress Assisting the class teacher with delivering tailored learning activities Supporting behaviour management and promoting positive choices Helping create an inclusive and supportive classroom culture Working closely with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies where appropriate We're Looking For Experience working with children or young people, ideally in SEND, SEMH, or alternative provision settings A calm, patient, and empathetic approach Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain consistent Ability to build rapport and trust with pupils who may have experienced disruption or trauma Flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to adapt to different needs each day A genuine desire to help young people thrive and reach their full potential Why work with Monarch Education?
