Please be advised that there is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top-up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum. This temporary top-up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job Overview

As part of the role, you will be expected to work within the main recovery area in Grange University Health Board (GUH) to support the emergency service.

Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner - Ambulatory CEPOD GUH

We are looking for highly motivated Ambulatory CEPOD Nurses / Practitioners to join our versatile Theatre team.

Newly appointed candidates will undertake a comprehensive training programme supported by our designated theatre Practice Educator.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Main duties of the job

This is a Monday to Friday service to cover CEPOD day cases and support other theatre departments within ABUHB. The department will undertake both emergency and elective procedures, covering General Surgery, ENT, Vascular, Obstetrics, Max Fax, Gynaecology, CEPOD and Trauma.

Newly appointed candidates will undertake a comprehensive training programme supported by our designated theatre Practice Educator.

Qualifications And Knowledge

Essential criteria

* Registered (RSCN) holding current registration with NMC Or Registered ODP with HCPC

Desirable criteria

* Degree / Diploma qualification


Experience

Essential criteria

* Previous experience working as a band 5 in a surgical environment
* Evidence of further development in line with NMC requirements

Safeguarding

* Satisfactory Standard/Enhanced DBS clearance including an Adults and Children’s Barred List check

Desirable criteria

* Mentorship


Other

Essential criteria

* Ability to travel within ABUHB to support other sites when needed.

Desirable criteria

* Informed consent guidelines, Surgical safety procedures and guidelines, NATSSIPS/LOCSSIPS


Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria

* Good liaison, negotiating, motivational, empathic skills.
* Adaptable and flexible approach to work, IT literacy and numeracy.
* Able to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised and evidence-based care.
* Good organisational skills, excellent communication skills, including providing and receiving complex, sensitive or contentious information.
* Resilience and desire to continuously improve service provision.

Desirable criteria

* ILS
* Appreciation of audit and research methodologies, problem-solving skills.
* Welsh Language Skills at levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
* Welsh Language Skills at levels 4 or 5 are essential in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
