Senior P&C Underwriter – Casualty Focus
Location: Birmingham or Manchester (Hybrid Working)

A leading insurer is looking to appoint a Senior Underwriter with a strong casualty focus to join its growing UK team. This role offers the opportunity to underwrite a broad mix of mono-line and multi-line products, with exposure to both domestic and complex multinational accounts. It combines technical underwriting responsibility, portfolio management, and broker engagement, with the chance to help shape the future growth of the regional portfolio.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Underwrite new and renewal mid-market business across casualty, property and package, with a particular focus on casualty risks.
2. Manage and grow a profitable portfolio, making end-to-end underwriting decisions in line with guidelines.
3. Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships, promoting the P&C proposition and developing long-term trading partnerships.
4. Contribute to business development initiatives, helping to shape profitable trading plans and support strategy execution.
5. Act as a referral point for complex cases and provide technical guidance where required.
6. Represent the business at broker meetings, client reviews and industry events.
What We’re Looking For:
7. Solid underwriting experience within P&C, ideally with a casualty background.
8. Strong broker engagement skills and the ability to build a profile in the market.
9. Commercial mindset with the ability to identify and deliver on growth opportunities.
10. Technically sound, with confidence to trade profitably within underwriting authority.
11. Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and manage portfolio performance.
12. A collaborative approach, with the flexibility to contribute across a growing regional team.
