Key Points
FRCR UK and GMC specialist registration (or must obtain relevant CCT within 6 months of interview) are essential.
This is a substantive Consultant Radiologist post at Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust, fully funded and needed to cover the expanding Radiology Department.
The post will be primarily based at Northampton General Hospital with possible cross‑site work at Kettering General Hospital. Further speciality training can be provided on‑site or by attendance at other centres.
Responsibilities include diagnostic radiology reporting, attending multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, participating in the interventional radiology on‑call rota and teaching & training of registrars, residents, students and radiographers. Off‑site reporting workstations and support are available.
Job Responsibilities
* Diagnostic radiology reporting.
* Attend MDT meetings.
* Participate in interventional radiology on‑call rota (1:6 frequency).
* Teaching & supervision of undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees.
* Conduct clinical audit, quality improvement and clinical governance.
* Engage in research activity, including NIHR and noncommercial studies.
* Appraisal, CPD and professional development.
* Contribute to departmental and directorate meetings, service planning and development.
* Support governance, audit, and clinical leadership activities as agreed in the job plan.
* Active collaboration in MDT discussions with nursing, AHP and medical colleagues.
There is no routine out‑of‑hours or weekend on‑call commitment for this post.
Clinical Skills
* Extensive training in Cross Sectional Radiology.
* Sub‑specialty training.
* Post‑graduate experience and familiarity with the UK NHS hospital system.
* Experience of CT/US guided biopsy, MSK injections and other interventions.
* Experience of MDT.
Management Skills
* Able to communicate effectively with patients, families and health professionals.
* Able to develop, present and implement coherent ideas for service development/delivery.
* Able to work within a team.
* Completed an appropriate management course.
Teaching, Audit and Research
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit.
* Able to teach and support junior staff effectively.
Interpersonal Skills
* Good written and verbal skills in English.
* Willingness to show flexibility in responding to the needs of the department.
Qualifications
* FRCR.
* MRCP, MRCS or other professional or higher qualification.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council, on the GMC Specialist register for Clinical Radiology, or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months by achieving CCT/CESR.

This post requires a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary
£109 725 to £145 478 a year, pro‑rata.
